Victory for Fred Couples in the Memorial Tournament

Fred Couples established himself as the hottest golfer in the world when he won the Memorial tournament by four strokes here Sunday (May 31st).
Couples started the final round with a three-shot advantage and he led all the way to post his 14th US Tour victory, his second this year.

With a closing 69 he finished at 17-under 271 at
Muirfield Village, while fellow American Andrew Magee (69) claimed second on 275.
In his past five starts, Couples has finished equal second
(Masters), third (Houston), equal second (Byron Nelson), equal 18th  (Colonial) and first (Memorial).
In doing so, he has established himself as a favorite for the US  Open, which will be his next tournament.
        "I'm playing as well as I can right now. For me to win Jack's tournament on Jack's course means a lot," Couples said, referring to tournament host Jack Nicklaus.

Conditions for the final round started windy and turned stormy, forcing two lightning delays before play finally was completed more than an hour behind schedule.
